For the last six weeks we have been preparing a select group of alpacas for export to our friends at Alpakka Bromma and Alpaca Sigdal in Norway. The alpacas were put through a number of pre-export tests including the new ENFERplex blood test for TB which was primed before hand. Please visit Sure Farm website for details of this new test. After getting the all clear from the vet we finally had to face up to the fact that we were going to have to say goodbye to our very special boy Inca Flagship along with a bunch of our females.

The story of Inca Flagship’s departure began back in March 2013, when, after winning Champion Black Male, he caught the eye of the Norwegian contingent that were visiting the British Alpaca Futurity. Inca Flagship continued to mature into a real macho that displays the finer qualities of our breed type here at Inca Alpaca. Luckily, like his father Lillyfield Jack of Spades of Inca he began mating at 19 months of age. We look forward to welcoming a second cohort of cria from Inca Flagship in 2015.

As a breeder of black alpacas for over twenty years I, and many of you out there, know how hard it is to breed a black that carries all of the positive fleece and conformation traits evenly and at a high level. When I look at Inca Flagship I see many years of planning that occurred to produce him. Every bone in my body has been telling me not to part with him but when I think of the home he is going to and the influence he can have it makes Tracey and I very proud.

It is with a heavy heart that we let Inca Flagship go and he will be greatly missed. We are excited for his new owners and wish them every success. And of course we still have our star, Inca Flagship’s sire, Lillyfield Jack of Spades of Inca. who will continue to stamp his mark here in the UK.
